Shot Structure
The shot had to be a close-up slow-motion take of some couple of bullet shells, dropping to the ground. This project's contractor was Bluejay Production House and the whole shot was done by me.
Approach
The whole shot is build in CG, Bullet shells are dropped using RayFire Studio's rigid body engine solution "Bullets" in Autodesk's 3ds max.
Scene was built with a compositor in mind, so all the passes that would be needed in the workflow was rendered so we could skip the baked DOF & MB at render time to meet the deadline asap.
Smoke
For the smoke pass I used the famous FumeFX plugin. Although the smoke pass has a very subtle effect on the final shot, I still put it in consideration to make the overall look of the shot more interesting at the end.
Final results went through some tweak and color corrections, so the whole process could be done in 4 days.
